A FATHER’S HEART CRY FOR HIS BABY GIRL (A POEM)

Rare among her peers
Highly intelligent for her years
Gifted in art, craft and in handling the shear
Her creativity is so rare
Hope! My dear Hope! You are my heir
You are indeed our only hope even in mere

Suddenly, just at the wake of one morning; a day of doom
The birds cease to hum
The sky seems not to be in a good mood
It Wears a dark face and a sand look
The faces of the elders fill with gloom
The wise men began to wonder as they look
I stood in utmost surprise in my room
What Sign could this be? I recount;while I clean my room with a broom

Oh! Our dear Hope has given up what used to be her pride
Her virginity which used to be her pride
Her passion and her drive
She had lost sight of her dream; to be exceptional woman and wife
All that Hope had, has suddenly been lost in the wild
She has become like one of them
